YOUR PERIOD — HER EDUCATIONYoung women around the world miss out on their education because they lack the means to manage their period in school. With every bag of Syd, you make it possible for a young woman to go to school during her period and get the education she needs to create a more equal future.
EVERY BAG OF SYD EQUALS:
It’s the 21st century and a period is still (!) an equality issue. Young women around the world miss out on their education because they lack the means to manage their period in school. Overcoming outdated attitudes and giving access to pads and toilets can change that.
FOR EQUAL OPPORTUNITY
PERIODS, EDUCATION AND EQUALITYIf we’re going to talk about equality, we have to talk about periods. Because periods are still standing in the way of opportunity for millions of young women around the world. It is a complex issue that’s often fuelled by stigma, outdated traditions and fear of shame. Still, it’s clear that lack of access to period products and sanitary facilities in schools is one of the big causes. Missing out on their education can have profound effects on what options and opportunities they’ll have in the future. As we know, education is key to overcome poverty. To create a more equal future for all, we have to make sure that a period never stands in the way of education and opportunity.
YOUR PERIOD ENABLES HER EDUCATIONTo be a part of the solution, we have started a project in the Ivory Coast together with our partner Save the Children Sweden. To start, we will make it possible for thousands of young women in six selected schools to go to class during their period. Period products will be provided to those who need it and toilets are being built to make sure they can manage their period safely in school. To overcome the problem and create change that lasts, everyone needs to be onboard. Through community outreach initiatives, we will work to increase awareness regarding issues related to hygiene, puberty, gender disparities and periods. A period should always just be a period and equal opportunity should be for all.
A period should never stand in the way of opportunity. Together we’re making it possible for thousands of young women to go to school during their period so they can get the education they need to create a more equal future.
WHY ORGANIC?NOT JUST FANCY WORDING
Simply put, we believe that knowing what we use in and on our bodies matters. That’s why we’ve chosen to skip questionable ingredients and instead stick to 100% organic cotton.
When it comes to one of the most sensitive and absorbent parts of our body, we don’t want to take any chances. That’s why don’t use questionable ingredients like synthetic fibres, chlorine bleach and perfumes in our products and instead stick to 100% organic cotton. The cotton is hypoallergenic, soft on the skin and compatible with our natural PH-levels.
The organic cotton production uses techniques to minimise the use of chemicals, water and energy. In fact: they retain water more efficiently through organic material in the soil; remove weeds physically; and maintain a healthy balance between pests and their natural predators through a healthy soil. Cutting out on chemical fertilizers, pesticides and insecticides means no residues of these in your products. And of course - cutting out on these chemicals and processes means cutting our planet some serious slack.
Many good things add up to a whole lot of greatness! If you haven’t tried organic cotton before, let’s just say that we think you’ll feel the difference.
